Gen is a cultural experience platform based in Kyoto, Japan. We provide authentic traditional Japanese music concerts and hands-on instrument lessons for visitors from around the world.
Our mission is to share the beauty of Japanese traditional instruments — koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi — through intimate, high-quality performances and interactive experiences.
Our Story
Founded by musicians passionate about preserving and sharing traditional Japanese music, Gen creates a bridge between centuries-old art forms and modern audiences.
Our Venues
We operate two unique venues in Kyoto:
- Gen Home Saiin — An intimate concert space in the Saiin neighborhood, hosting performances for up to 9 guests.
- Gen Soundbath Kujo-yu — A converted historic bathhouse offering immersive soundbath concerts with unique acoustics.
